Nusaju - English Learning Centre

Nusaju is a non-profit organisation formed in 2003 with the objective of enhancing English proficiency among children in rural areas.

In support of the aspiration of the Malaysian government, Nusaju has embarked on an English Learning Programme to assist children in the town of Pekan, Pahang.

Since Nusaju's inception, fifteen centres have been set up in Pekan with over 7,700 children benefiting from the programme over the years. This year, there are 1,086 students under this programme.

Nusaju hopes to give these children more opportunities to improve their knowledge and broaden their horizons by improving their English language proficiency.

English Development

Classes

At Nusaju, students are taught the fundamentals of the English language as these students’ exposure to the language is very minimal. The English Development Classes are divided into Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced classes as well as remedial classes for students needing additional assistance.

Nusaju’s English Syllabus is similar to those of the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) or Primary School Evaluation Test system and classes are made available for children between the ages of 7 and 9 years old.

Besides teaching English, Nusaju has also embarked on various events to foster goodwill amongst the community. Nusaju encourages students’ participation in their communities together with parents, teachers, Tok Empats (Village Heads), in order to generate a better understanding amongst themselves and the role they play in society.

The organised events are a great way for students to mingle among themselves, to learn about each others’ lives and backgrounds as well as to have fun. These social activities encourage students to think about others and broaden their senses about their environment.
